Your Toddler Needs A Daily Schedule

And here is why.

If your toddler is anything like mine, then they are full of energy with nowhere to release it.

Oh and they eat all day long like their tummies are bottomless pits.

Toddlers can be crazy and unpredictable, but if they kind of knew what to look forward to then they may be a little less crazy and unpredictable.

What I have learned as a parent is that toddlers need structure and guidance.

Without it, I am just merely making it through the day instead of making the best of it with my daughter.

And we all know how important those early years for kids in their development.

As easy as it is to put my kid in front of a TV all day, that is no good.

I’m not one of those moms who believes in no screen time but more so screen time in moderation.

The world that we live in makes it nearly impossible to not come into contact with screens.

So our little ones should know how to operate them because that is what they will encounter in the real world.

But at the same time, our lives don’t revolve around screens.

Our little ones won’t know that though if all we are doing is sticking them in front of the TV.

So it starts with us setting the tone.

If we don’t want to have to rely on screens to entertain our children, then we need to have a plan for the day.

For instance, in the mornings, I get up around the same time everyday and so does my little one.

If she is sleepy and wants to sleep in a little bit, I have no problem with but what she is not going to do is sleep until noon.

The same thing goes for bedtime.

She goes to bed around the same time every night to ensure that she gets a good night’s sleep for the next day.

The latest my toddler has gone to bed on a normal day where it is just us is 9 PM.

And she knows that and will normally start showing all the cues that she is tired by then.

If you are looking for a way to get your toddler started on routine, then I suggest waking them up at the same time every morning.

And putting them to bed at the same every night.

Whichever works for you.

Once you know these dedicated times, this is where you can plan how the day will be structured from meals, naps, play time, and even screen time.

Not only will your toddler’s day be more structured, so will yours.

By knowing when my daughter eats and sleeps, I can then work around that and get things done.

Having a routine for your little one is a game changer and something I highly suggest.
