Are Stay At Home Moms Responsible For All Of The Housework?

Because that is the expectation.

Apparently that is what many people think when it comes to being a stay at home mom.

Since they are home day, they should be the ones responsible for making sure the house is clean at all times.

I mean it can’t be too hard since it must be “so nice” to get to stay home and not go to an “actual job.”

And while they are home, they should also make sure that they cook 3 meals 3 times a day.

Because why should we go out to eat when someone is home all day?

And we can’t forget about the children that are there with you right?

Make sure that your children are thriving and not watching all TV all the time because you know how awful screen time is for children.

That can’t be too hard to do all that right?

If you have been reading my posts on here, then you already know that I’m being dramatic and sarcastic.

As a stay at home mom myself, there is absolutely no way to keep a home spotless and clean every second of the day with small children and do all those “duties” that people like to put on stay at home moms.

I have two small children at that like to take everything I just put away back out as soon they see that it is clean.

It as if children are allergic to clean spaces.

Or maybe it is just my children.

My oldest daughter is good about cleaning up after herself most of the time, but she is 3.

And you can’t expect a 3-year-old to always keep her area clean.

She is a kid and kids love to play.

No matter how messes it gets.

So if you expect a stay at home mom to keep her home clean at all times while also trying to cook and homeschool her children, then it is either time to drop that expectation or hire someone to keep a clean home.

Now don’t get me wrong, my home isn’t filthy.

After all, I like to have a clean space.

Having a clean space does wonders for my mind and fuels my productivity.

I’m able to think and function well in an environment that is tidy and clean.

So I do the best I can with trying to keep my home clean with 2 small children.

Even if it is not spotless at all times.

What has worked for me was to create a small cleaning routine that I do daily to make sure my home is mostly tidy and clean.

This routine is very simple and doesn’t take me long to do everyday.

So I’m able to get the best of worlds of having a mostly tidy space without wearing myself thin trying to keep my home clean all day.

I will catch you all next time!
